Almost 30 years later, the movie\u2019s cast is still revisiting some of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/batman-and-robin-alicia-silverstone-chris-odonnell-share-chaos-memories-hated-film-11828555\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview with <em>EW<\/em><\/a>, <em>Batman &amp; Robin<\/em> stars Alicia Silverstone and Chris O\u2019Donnell spent some time chatting about the film\u2019s bewildering on-set chaos and the painful reality of seeing it flop with audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t\r\n\n\t\t<div class=\"ad-dog__cnx-container\"><script id=\"0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796\">\n\t\t\tcnx.cmd.push(function() {\n\t\t\t\tcnx({\n\t\t\t\t\tplayerId: \"106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530\",\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t}).render(\"0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796\");\n\t\t\t});\n\t\t<\/script><\/div>\n\t\n\n\n<p>Silverstone, who played <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/batgirl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Batgirl<\/a> opposite George Clooney\u2019s Batman and O\u2019Donnell\u2019s Robin, says a lot of things on the shoot just \u201cdidn\u2019t make sense.\u201d She recalls being in massive warehouse sets teeming with extras and stunts, often uncertain of what was being asked of her. \u201cI remember we finally got the things on and we\u2019re standing there on top of this platform\u2026 I turned to Chris and George and I said, \u2018What do we do?\u2019 And they\u2019re like, \u2018Don\u2019t worry, you\u2019ll figure it out.\u2019 I was like, \u2018What do you mean?\u2019\u2026 Then I hear over a big bullhorn, \u2018Throw the thing!\u2019\u2026 It\u2019s like, \u2018What do you mean? We don\u2019t even know what we\u2019re throwing!\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O\u2019Donnell, meanwhile, recalled how pressure mounted during the movie\u2019s promotional campaign as negative reviews began pouring in. \u201cAll of a sudden, you were starting to get the feedback, and you realize it was just going sideways,\u201d he said. \u201cThere was so much hatred of the film when it came out. It was like, \u2018Oh my God.\u2019\u2026 I remember at one point, Joel Schumacher just threw up the flag. He\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019m out. I can\u2019t do it anymore.\u2019 He was so heartbroken and kind of bummed out about it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the stress of making the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/dc\/\">DC<\/a> movie and its poor reception, its stars do seem fairly relaxed about it all now. O\u2019Donnell admitted, \u201cIt was a tough one for us to all to digest,\u201d but added, \u201cWe were lucky to be in the movie, and it was fun to be a part of it. It is what it is. Some work out and some don\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film that put nipples on the Bat costume also inevitably became known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/tv\/george-clooney-needs-to-stop-apologizing-campy-batman\/\">a camp classic<\/a>. \u201cWhen it came out, I don\u2019t think people liked it very much,\u201d Silverstone says. \u201cBut later on people told me it\u2019s their favorite movie\u2026 It\u2019s very camp.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are people out there who love Joel Schumacher\u2019s 1997 DC effort Batman &amp; Robin, but even they will tell you that its road to the screen must have been paved with some absolutely baffling decisions.
