In 2023\u2019s animated adventure movie <em>Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse<\/em>, we got so many Spider-Men that we even had to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/movies\/every-new-spider-man-variant-across-the-spider-verse\/\">write a whole thing<\/a> pointing them all out. Still, \u201ckeep them coming!\u201d we yell, and if we can\u2019t get new variants right now, well, we\u2019ll happily take ones from the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such is the opinion of the Spider-Man junkies who have a soft spot for Tobey Maguire\u2019s wall-crawler from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/movies\/sam-raimi-bruce-campbell-mysterio-spider-man-4\/?_gl=1*j6ffed*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTU3MTc0MDMyMS4xNzU5MzI1MzI0*_ga_J2QSY2EKFY*czE3NTkzMzAxMTQkbzMkZzEkdDE3NTkzMzAyMzEkajQkbDAkaDA.\">Sam Raimi trilogy era<\/a>. The actor\u2019s reappearance in the Sony-Marvel MCU entry <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em> was a nice reminder that he may have been the best to ever do it, and <em>The Batman<\/em> co-writer Mattson Tomlin seems to agree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t\r\n\n\t\t<div class=\"ad-dog__cnx-container\"><script id=\"0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796\">\n\t\t\tcnx.cmd.push(function() {\n\t\t\t\tcnx({\n\t\t\t\t\tplayerId: \"106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530\",\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t}).render(\"0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796\");\n\t\t\t});\n\t\t<\/script><\/div>\n\t\n\n\n<p>When a Tobey trilogy fan account joked \u201cHere&#8217;s your money to write the script\u201d for a Maguire <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em> this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mattsontomlin\/status\/1972773063910674728\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tomlin replied<\/a> \u201cTrying!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trying!<\/p>&mdash; mattson tomlin (@mattsontomlin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattsontomlin\/status\/1972773063910674728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 29, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time Tomlin, whose other credits include <em>Project Power<\/em>, <em>Terminator Zero<\/em>, and the upcoming <em>John Wick<\/em> Caine spinoff, has teased a possible take on a Tobey Maguire Spider-Man fourquel. Earlier this summer, he was asked to share his vision for what the film\u2019s story could be about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHonestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em> where Tobey\u2019s Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father,\u201d he wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mattsontomlin\/status\/1950715051003768923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a post on X<\/a>. \u201cSpider-Man as a father is where I gravitate towards given the last 8 films.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Honestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey\u2019s Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father. Sam Raimi and co. did indeed try and make one a reality in our universe after the release of <em>Spider-Man 3<\/em>, but it never got off the ground. Since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/andrew-garfield\/?_gl=1*1n4yxmp*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTU3MTc0MDMyMS4xNzU5MzI1MzI0*_ga_J2QSY2EKFY*czE3NTkzMzAxMTQkbzMkZzEkdDE3NTkzMzAxNzUkajYwJGwwJGgw\">Andrew Garfield<\/a> and Tom Holland have both worn the friendly neighborhood superhero\u2019s costume, reuniting on-screen with Maguire in <em>No Way Home<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While a Tobey Maguire <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em> might never happen, despite Tomlin\u2019s best efforts, we can always turn our frothing fan attention to making a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denofgeek.com\/movies\/actors-who-played-spider-man\/?_gl=1*1lio6qx*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTU3MTc0MDMyMS4xNzU5MzI1MzI0*_ga_J2QSY2EKFY*czE3NTkzMzAxMTQkbzMkZzEkdDE3NTkzMzA0MDUkajYwJGwwJGgw\">Takuya Yamashiro<\/a> Spidey movie happen.
